Teaching and Learning:
Your child will take part in a balance of carefully planned child initiated and adult directed activities in order for them to develop as individuals. Often when asking a child what they have done at Pre-school today, they will respond with ‘I played!’. This is what we aim for the children to say! We give them enriching and playful learning experiences from which they learn the skills to make up the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and to enable them with a lifelong love of learning. We use your child's interests to underpin and form the basis of our planning to enable them to take charge of their own independent learning. We also enrich our curriculum with focused storytelling books each term and planned activities that are personalised to your child. We believe this encourages the development of your child's Communication and Language skills and ultimately readies them for starting their school life in Reception happily.
The principles which guide and underpin our teaching and learning are:
A Unique Child: Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships: Children learn to be strong and independent, from a base of loving and secure relationships.
Enabling Environments: The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.
Learning and Development: Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and inter-connected.
